Project C: Conceptual Image

The objective of this assignment was to produce a highly conceptual piece for a current event issue or a news article. The subject I chose was the "Chocolate Shortage". I thought it was a unique topic of interest, and the media frenzy over it was quite entertaining, with such headlines as "Dark Days Ahead" or "The Race to Save The World's Chocolate", which inspired my conceptualization.

Brainstorming Ideas

Preliminary digital sketch, a globe encased in chocolate that is melting away
Revised sketch

Final Conceptual Image: The world, encased in chocolate, is melting, showing how
chocolate is running out and also referencing "Global Warming"

Exploring an alternate idea based on time and an hourglass. The concept was to make a cacao fruit into the shape
of an hourglass, where there are limited cacao beans left to make chocolate, just "time running out" for chocolate.
Alternate image, with a cacao fruit in the shape of an hourglass.

Project B: Graphic Translation

This project's objective was to take an object and graphically translate it into a simpler form. From there we would take our solution and incorporate it into a mark or logo for an imaginary company. The company I designed for is called "Mon Petit Chou Chou" which is a French term of endearment and play on words. It means "my little cabbage" but also "my little pastry", so I imagined that this logo would be for a French bakery.

Reference photos for study. I chose the one on the bottom left to translate.
